Chris Merrick currently lives in Grass Valley, CA, where he founded Merrick Industries from his personal shop and maker space. Fully equipped with modern fabrication tooling, the shop is capable of managing projects of ALL scales.

As the founder of Merrick Industries, Chris draws inspiration from his disciplines in robotics and electronics to create large scale kinetic art that redefines and enlivens spaces. Chris values community, positivity and integrity, facilitating sincere relations between all who contribute to Merrick Industries’ projects. Striving to be as environmentally aware as possible, Chris does his diligence to reduce waste and use reclaimed materials.

RUBY BEAUCHAMP

Education:

University of Portland: BS Organizational Communication; BA Spanish; Minor in Sustainability

As project manager, Ruby organizes project documentation, timelines, and materials. As communication coordinator, she conveys the scope of our work through digital content and also illustrates the ingenuity of projects through detailed proposals. In the shop, Ruby assists with design, fabrication, and manufacturing.

Overall, she actively facilitates an organizational culture that is open, innovative, vulnerable, and courageous.

Joined Merrick Industries in 2016.

As our lead fabricator and welder, Jon’s primary focus is constructing and assembling project components, while maintaining the highest level of quality and craftsmanship possible.

In addition to his education and experience, his ambition and impeccable attention to detail give him a uniquely well rounded perspective. Jon draws on his artistic wisdom to foresee and circumvent potential issues at all stages of a project’s development.

SEBASTIAN MERRICK

With a second-nature understanding of design and fabrication, Sebastian Merrick brings inspiration and a youthful drive to the team. At the age of 12, Sebastian started his first company called Nerf Tech, creating consumer products for nerf guns. He spends a great deal of time creating, studying mechanical engineering, he runs a machine shop, building a strong foundation for a creative future and leveling up his skillsets. He is also a passionate YouTuber, who produces his own original content.
